Getting to The Bahamas
Island: Exuma, Bahamas
Airport: GGT - Exuma International Airport
We have found that the overnight flight is easiest and gives you the most time at the resort. However, you will likely be very tired if you don't get a nap in prior to departure, so we advise planning accordingly!
We will actually be arriving to The Bahamas on Sunday, so you're welcome to join us for an extra day if you wish. Please make sure you check into the resort no later than Monday though!
American Airlines is the only airline that flies from the US to Exuma, Bahamas. You can fly direct to Exuma from Miami (our recommended location), Atlanta, Ft. Lauderdale, or Charlotte. If you have airline miles to get to one of those locations on another airline, you could take American from there to Exuma. Definitely worth looking into!
Getting to Orlando
We will fly from Exuma (GGT) to MCO - which is the Orlando International Airport.
If you are not joining for the Bahamas portion but will be joining for Disney World and/or the Disney Cruise, you will fly into MCO and transport to Port Canaveral, FL where the cruise ship will depart.
If you are joining for Disney World, we recommend you stay at the Disney Resort with us (Disney’s Pop Century Resort) to take the Disney Shuttle to the port. The Disney Shuttle is super convenient as they will take your bags for you FROM THE HOTEL TO THE SHIP, so you don’t have to worry about a thing! This adds $180 to the Disney cruise reservation. It will take you from the Disney Resort to the Port, AND THEN back to the airport immediately following the cruise.
IF YOU NEED HELP ADDING TRANSPORTATION, please text Brittany as she is happy to add it for you! It is quick and easy for her and she would love to assist.
If you are not joining for Disney World, you can still stay at the Disney Resort (Pop Century) and take the Disney Shuttle. OR you can stay somewhere closer to the port.
NO MATTER WHAT, if you are going on the Disney Cruise, please make sure to be in Orlando no later than Friday, 11/14! DO NOT RISK coming in on Saturday, 11/15 and trying to make it to the port before the ship departs.
Getting Home
We will port back in Port Canaveral, FL on Saturday, 11/22. You will then fly out of MCO (Orlando Airport) to get home. Again, we highly recommend the Disney Shuttle Transportation to get to the airport.
If you are not staying at the Disney Resort and wish to find your own transportation to the Port, we highly recommend TAKING THE DISNEY SHUTTLE TO THE AIRPORT. We had a horrible time getting transportation from the port after our last cruise and it was very expensive! We truly cannot recommend at least this option to the airport. It is extremely convenient and much more affordable than other options. It is $90 for 2 people.
Arrival & Departure in Exuma, Bahamas
Transportation is not included in your reservation at either resort. Taxi is the best mode of transportation to and from the airport. You can reserve a taxi in advance or there are plenty of taxis available when you arrive.
It is a 15 minute drive from the Exuma Airport to the resorts.
If you want to tour the island, you are able to rent a car at the airport. Please note they drive on the left side of the road and the roads are very small/narrow, so we highly recommend NOT driving yourself.
There is no Uber, only taxi.
Disney Resort / Disney World
MCO to Disney Resort
Uber or Lyft is the best way to get from the Airport to your Disney Resort. If you are staying at Pop Century and have a similar arrival time as us, we have rented a shuttle available so that we can all ride together! Please let Brittany know your flight info so that she can plan accordingly.
Disney Resort to Disney World
This is one of the best parts about staying at a Disney Resort! The transportation is included and complimentary! We are choosing to spend the day at Magic Kingdom. The included transportation is the Disney Bus which will take you right to the park entrance. The Disney Bus will also pick you up when you're ready to return. Depending on the time of day, there is a bus that usually comes around every 15 minutes.
We love to take a Minnie Van which is operated through Lyft and is an SUV (painted to look like Minnie of course) with a private driver that will pick you up and take you right to the entrance. It's super comfortable, quick and convenient if you don't mind paying the extra cost.
Disney Resort to Disney Cruise Terminal
We have added Disney Transportation to our cruise fare. It is $180 for (2) people round trip. This includes pick up from Pop Century Resort to the Cruise Terminal, and then from the Cruise Terminal to the Orlando Airport at the end of the cruise. It is super convenient, comfortable and highly recommended! They pick up your luggage from the resort at 8am that morning, then the bus will pick up around 9am or 10am, getting you to the cruise terminal before anyone else. Everything is handled for you and you are guaranteed to not miss anything or have to worry about making separate plans.
Please let Brittany know if you'd like to join in any of the transportation we have booked so that she can coordinate you being on the same transportation.
